As the guests shuffled out from the venue, I took a breath of relief
in knowing that I successfully photographed my first wedding ceremony.
My eyes dried up hours ago in their reluctance to blink, and my hands
ached from an overzealous grip, but it was time to make my way to the
family residence for a final send-off. I entered the living room where the
events of the day began, and was greeted by the warmth of a dozen
happy faces. On the couch I observed the bride unwrapping her gifts while
sitting in between her brother and newlywed husband, and I proceeded
to make my way over. Suddenly, the mood took drastic change. As the
bride peeled back the wrapping paper, her brother burst into tears.
An image of the two of them embracing as children slowly revealed itself,
and it did not take long for her to join him in his arms. I watched in awe
that such an emotionally personal event was unfolding before me, and
